By Feng Yingqiu

YANGON, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Several series of terrorist bomb attacks in the month of April, especially the water festival bombing, have caused negative impacts over people's business and daily life in Myanmar's former capital of Yangon.

People avoid going to crowded places for fear of such recurrence.

The number of customers normally visiting some crowded major markets and shopping malls in the former capital has dropped apparently since the last week of April.

The circulation of rumors that more terrorist bomb attacks will be launched in a continued series has brought increased terror to Yangon residents.

The targeted points are rumored as Kandawkyi Myawzin Island, Lapyaewun Plaza, Bayintnaung Cinema, Mingala Zay, Yuzana Plaza and North Point Shopping Mall.

The customer number fell, especially with markets and shopping centers where non-food commodities are sold.

The crowded weekend days were not exceptional in the case, shop owners said.

Security measures have tightened with such public areas as cinemas and highway terminals. Checks on people moving about, traffic checks and household list checks townshipwise on strangers are apparent daily since then, especially at night time.

Motor vehicles running through the downtown areas have to go through several check points and are passed on declaration of drivers' names.

The daily rumors have made people to lead a life of insecurity, residents reflected.

Amid the preparatory process of the coming general election with no date being set so far, a series of three bomb blasts, one after another in front of a water throwing pandal on Mingala Taung Nyunt township's Kandawkyi Ring Road at Kandawkyi lake park area on April 15 killed 10 people and injured 170 others.
