Burma Update : U Tin Oo was extended house arrest for one more year

BDD

NLD Vice-chairman U Tin Oo, whom was arrested along with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in Depeyin assassination attempt in 2003, has been extended his detention for another year, source close to the regime said. U Tin Oo was jailed in Kalay Myo prison after he was jailed for few months and later he was pleased house arrest since.
Sources said it seemed to be regime's reaction against the releasing all political prisoner campaign launched by NLD on 12th February. It is likely to extend Daw Aung San Suu Kyi for another year regardless of international and domestic pressure.
U Nyi Pu and Dr Tin Min Htut, were also sentenced to 15 years yesterday. Both NLD MPs were arrested for requesting letter to UN secretary general Ban Ki-Mom for free political prisoners. However, they were charged with Electronic Act.
