Liberal International executives visited Mae La camp and how to support the Burma's democrats while meeting with Thai opposition leader

Liberal International (LI) which is made of more than seventy political parties from different part of the World ended its fact finding mission to Thai-Burma border yesterday. 17 different countries' representatives went to Mae La camp which is sixty kilometers from Mae Sot on 12th December. They raised their international concerns of current political crackdown against the student leaders, political activists and peaceful Saffron Revolution leaders.

LI fact finding mission was hosted by NLD LA, NCUB and Democrat Party during their visit. LI vice president and European Parliament members witnessed the living condition of the refugees who lost their mother land after SPDC troops' killing and touring in Karen State. Civil War led hundreds of thousands of people who have taken refuge in the different temporary shelters included Mae La Camp.

LI also called Democrat Leader Khun Abhisit and other Democrat Party leaders at Party Headquarters. Democrat Party leader and 27th hopeful Thai Prime Minister answered the LI executive members for half day on Saturday. Democrat leader also raised the previous governments' policy towards Burma. His major concern towards Burma is human rights violations, deadlock political situation and current UN and ASEAN's role in Burma.

NLD LA/NCUB Foreign Affairs Committee seniors also urged him to review Thai policy towards Burma along with ASEAN and bilateral relations with Burma's generals. Thai incoming government also concerned and review the refugees and migrant workers way of life, their social condition and rule of law during the camp visit and during the meeting with LI delegation.

LI delegation members visited ASTV which is the PAD's TV station and roundtable discussion with PAD core leaders on Sunday. PAD is coalition group that brought down three Prime Ministers during the past two years. One of the PAD leaders said "when people raised their concerns, government should pay attention, but when corrupted government refused listening to the voice of the people, there has no alternative but to push the language that government would understand", after blocking two international airports in Bangkok last week.
