Human Rights and Burma: A New Thai Foreign Minister

Khun Kasit Piromya, a former ambassador to UN, became a Foreign Minister of new Democrat led Thai government could provide more proactive achievement towards Burma. He might be willing to work on human rights issues within a region and ASEAN. His strong knowledge of Burma will help current situation in Burma, report said.

His strong experience with UN, Thai new foreign minister is able to work with different type of governments in the region. He promised to work on Burma issue with more pro-active on human rights, social, refugee issue and migrant workers from neighboring countries while meeting with Burmese political activists.

"How difficult challenges we face, ASEAN countries should follow agreements what we agreed upon regardless of different political situations. As we met Burmese refugees in the camp reminded me that our neighbor should have peace and stability with fundamental human rights." Foreign minister Kasit Piromya told BDD during visit to Mae La camp.
