Thailand: Poll: Yingluck improves in many aspects




The latest Abac Poll revealed that Yingluck Shinawatra, the No 1 Pheu Thai paty list candidate, has won more support from the people in many aspects in the third survey, compared to the first survey.

However, when compared to Abhisit Vejjajiva, the Democrat Party leader, Ms Yingluck was still behind the caretaker prime minister on several aspects, said Abac Poll director Noppadol Kannikar.

The poll was conducted between May 30-June 4 on 2,210 people in Bangkok, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Chon Buri, Phayao, Phetchabun, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Surin, Buri Ram, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Krabi, Narathiwat and Songkhla.

The poll results revealed that Ms Yingluck received more support in many aspects, compared to the the first survey.

The support for Ms Yingluck went up from 9.7% to 31.6% in terms of patience and control of emotion; from 13% to 37.4% in politeness; from 11.3% to 29.3% in acceptance from within the country and abroad; from 9.8% to 32.4% in her being a role model; from 13.1% to 34.2% in hospitality; and from 12.9% to 32.5 in leadership.

However, Mr Abhisit was still more acceptable than Ms Yingluck in many aspects. The support for Mr Abhisit, compared to that for Ms Yingluck, was 47.7% to 32.5% in terms of leadership; 43.3% to 29.5% in political ethics; and 43.1% to 34.3% in charisma.
