A new Burmese government said 'No' to a Former US first woman Secretary of State Medeleine Albrigh

Burma's so-called civilian government led by former general Thein Sein had rejected a former US secretary of state's request to visit Burma, said sources close to Naypyidaw. The reason of the rejection is senior members of the new civilian government have been busy with the Burmese New Year and they have so many prior engagements and unable to meet her until end of 2011.
Former Secretary of State Albright had her first visit to Burma in September 1995 as US ambassador to the United Nations, meeting both NLD leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and a former spy chief and currently jailed former prime minister Khin Nyunt that time.
Her planed visit is focusing to meet with opposition leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Naypyidaw government leaders during her stay. But regime had refused to issue her visa indicating that regime is not ready to come into national reconciliation and political development.
The US is now pursuing what it calls ''pragmatic engagement'' while keeping sanctions in place. It hopes that dangling the possibility of easing economic sanctions will be incentive enough for the regime to free political prisoners but regime sides feels that US government will question not only human rights but connection with North Korea and other election related matters, said Naypyidaw close associates.
