YANGON, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's first private airline, Air Mandalay, has suspended its flight services for major renovation of its aircrafts, sources with the airline said on Wednesday.
The company will not only renovates its aircrafts for secured transport but also buy new aircrafts to fly more destinations for the upcoming peak tourism season starting October, the sources said.
Air Mandalay, established in 1994 October, has been operating different domestic destinations with ATR-42 and ATR 72 aircrafts from Yangon to Mandalay, Heho, Tachilek, Kengtung, Sittwe, Ngapali, Htandwe, Myeik and Kawthaung.
The airline once flew to Thailand's Chiang Mai with ATR-42 but due to technical failure, the route had been suspended from August 2008 until now.
According to the civil aviation authorities, there are altogether four domestic airlines in the country - Air Mandalay, state-run Myanmar Airway, Yangon Airways and Air Bagan.
