The partial unofficial tally as of today, May 12, indicates that Liberal Party Presidential candidate, Benigno Simeon III C. Aquino (Noynoy Aquino) leads the race with 13,593,033 votes over Joseph Ejercito Estrada (Erap Estrada) who has 8,616,269 votes. For the most updated election results you may check: http://www.gmanews.tv/eleksyon2010/nationalcount.
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) have only tabulated 88.55% of the total number of results from the precincts. Some precincts are having problems transmitting the results, and there are still eight municipalities in Mindanao which are still going to conduct special elections (failure of elections was declared in these places due to violence).
While the remaining votes from these precincts would not affect the results of the Presidential race (since Senator Aquino is leading by about five million votes), these may still have a significant difference in the Vice-Presidential contest, where LP Vice-Presidential bet Senator Manuel "Mar" Roxas is trailing behind Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay by about 800,000 votes. Exit polls suggest that Senator Roxas would win "by a hairline" (margin of about 100,000 votes). We hope and expect Senator Mar to catch up and win.
We'll keep you posted on the developments.
