Senior general Than Shwe's last decision made unhappy with the majority

BDD

The day of March 27, Resistance Day or Armed Forces Day, ltd. general Thiha Thura Tin Aung Myint Oo attended as a four stars general that he was promoted few days before. His promotion annoyed to another power clique, General Thura Shwe Man. There are now three of four stars generals in Burma; General Shwe Mann, PM general Thein Sein and newly promoted Tin Aung Myint Oo.

There would be curtail competition within two rivals; Shwe Mann and Tin Aung Myint Oo, said a former official who's just five batches lower than Shwe Mann. General Shwe Mann supporters seemed to be terrified by senior general's decision, he noted. Many expected Shwe Mann was the man in the next in line of senior general but after promotion of his rival, things become uncertain. At least he would be monitored all his actions after 2010.

Senior general wanted tougher person to deal with the current ethnic nationalities. Since ethnic ceasefire groups has rejected SPDC's new constitution that paves the new election in 2010. Full of inequality in the constitutions that only benefit for SPDC's next political life.

His promotion is clear, senior general feels that General Shwe Mann's type is unable to control the ethnic and NLD confrontation. However, many moderate generals and civilians are unhappy what senior general's decision. They are no longer eager to fight or using more violent with ethnic ceasefire groups, one of the seniors of SPDC quoted saying in the meeting with his counterparts few months back.

Many counting senior general's departure which is 2010 election but now game is totally different. "He prefers harder approach and refuses to have more peace with promotion of Tin Aung Myint Oo." said former official. Despite the senior generals thinking, SPDC supporters from the regional countries prefer General Thein Sein should be in-charge of the new administration. Three men are now betting for who will have more power, who will get the most favors from the senior general and they also counting international and other generals and powerful groups support.
