Thai Politics: Pheu Thai urges gov't to seek advice from Thaksin

The main opposition party has called on the government to consult with ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra on how to manage the stimulus plan without increasing public debt, Pheu Thai deputy leader Kanawat Wasinsangworn said on Tuesday.

"The government is on the wrong track by borrowing to revitalise the economy and Thaksin has the experience and the knowledge to fix the problem," Kanawat said.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva should be open minded in seeking and accepting advice from Thaksin, he said.

He added that the opposition bench was worrying about the alarming increase of public debt for this fiscal year and the next one while the government revenues steadily declining.
