Burma Update: NLD Humanitarian Assistance Program official being detained

NLD Humanitarian Assistance program official Ma Cho of Lun-Ma-Daw Township was being detained by the special branch and local authorities from her home on Friday night. She has been detained at the Kykekasan political investigation center but family was unable to reach her, source close to NLD said.

She has helped and organized fundraising within members and supporters of the NLD and redistributed the political prisoners' families who needed assistance, source said. She has been assigned for assisting political prisoners by the NLD seniors for a long time. The SB confiscated lists of the recipients and other related documents from her home.

Last week, Ko Sein Hlaing, a former Tri-Color student core leader, was also detained for political prisoners assisting programs. Police also seized 2.4 million kyat and list of the political prisoners from his home.

SPDC has pressured the humanitarian assisting programs and social networks to stop assisting political prisoners. Current arrests are relating after SPDC punished with long term sentences against the religious, student and social leaders relating Saffron Revolution and Nargis cyclone issue, sources said.
