A former Tri-Color key member Ko Sein Hlaing was arrested

Source close to activists said ko Sein Hlaing, a former member of the Tri-Color student activists' group that assisted Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's first public meeting at Shwedagon Pagoda in 1988 was arrested few days ago. He was picked up by Special Brunch police units from his home and he was briefly allowed to go home. SB later raided his home and confiscated twenty million kyat and other documents from his home, said witness.

Ko Sein Hlaing and Tri-Color student group provided their volunteer service for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's security until NLD Youth took over her security service 1988. Many Tri-Color student activists co-formed the NLD Youth while NLD decided to have a Youth Wing. Ko Sein Hlaing was a key member of Tri-Color and later he was arrested in 1989, sentenced to 14 years in jail.

He was investigated in Saffron Revolution but later he was freed. Ko Sein Hlaing was also working with 88 generation student leaders in humanitarian assistance programs and other political activities.

Ma Sanda Min (Shwee), another former Tri-Color student activist, successful businesswoman and social activist was arrested and got long term jail for Saffron Revolution agitation. She was arrested few times before she decided to enter bakery industry.

Regime has step-up crackdown against the political and student activists past recent months, said sources.
