PM Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Thursday ordered the postponement of the deportation of 78 Rohingya refugees and asked forensic expert to examine their wounds.

Khunying Porntip Rojanasunan, the director-general of Forensic Science, went to Ranong province on the same day to inspect the case where Thai authorities were accused of maltreatment of the boat people.

After examining the wounds of all immigrants, who were arrested upon arrival to Thailand on Tuesday, Dr Porntip said the wounds, mostly resulted from cuts and beats, were more than 10 days old, thus it is impossible that Thai officials hurt them.

"And after having spoken to them through interpretators, the boat people said they were injured by Burmese soldiers when they were coming by boat to Thailand."

Of all, 66 people reportedly have injuries, she said.

They will be treated in Thailand until they recover before deportation, she added.
