News Today: Regime's counter intelligence should not be ignored

BDD

Recently, SPDC's counter intelligent agents had penetrated in the pro-democracy town hall meeting in Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, last week. Mizzima wrote SPDC agent was caught by other activists because his movement was unusual.

More deliberately, he was questioned and later he confessed that he was assigned to get information and also disturbed the meeting. We have to look at beyond the news.

According to source said all of the Burmese embassies have been instructed to do counter intelligence tasks by Naypyidaw. Primary function is getting information about pro-democracy movement and their activities overseas. No one knows how many spies in the pro-democracy stronghold areas; border, USA and other countries.

Last few months ago, someone created a blog and attacked the activists with low level accusations, first this blog seemed sincerely, perhaps showing frustrations, lone activist who wanted to expose irregularities of the activists but blogger went too far with false information. Intension was concluded, a blogger must not be a pro-democracy activist.

During the reign of former regime's spy Master General Khin Nyunt, he and his team had used different tactics to get information, spreading rumors and personal attacks. Embassies' agents collected information and sent back to his MIS headquarters. He used sleeper cells from MIS chief late general Tin Oo after 1988.

Intelligent agents created more confusion among the activists within Burma and outside. According to the NLD leader who is now retiring from politics said "many NLD leaders and co-founders were forced to leave NLD in terms of Khin Nyunt's systematically breaking up the unity and creating distrust among the activists and pro-democracy leaders."

Luckily, activists caught SPDC's agent and we all have to be careful about regime's different strategy to scrawny the movement. Different political views and veteran activists' frustrations are the best fuel for the regime counter intelligent agencies to create more distrust among us.
