General News: Mae Sot went under water
BDD
Mae Sot, Thai-Burma border town has been under water by Friday midnight heavy rain. Flooded rain shutdown the downtown area and the Burmese jewelry market which is close to the main street until this evening. Many Burmese migrant workers moved from the factories that also hit by flooded water, report said. Rescue boats were sailing in the downtown streets this morning.
However, ABSDF 20th anniversary had been held at the Thai-Burma border far from Mae Sot.
Thailand normally dries up end of the October and beginning of the November but not this year. Next few weeks would be harvest time and rice farmers are nervously watching another heavy rain, a member of the Tak province chamber of commerce said on local TV.
Thai-Burma border was opened at the Friendship bridge and other local crossing points were closed down, local TV news said.
