Irrawaddy, Khitpyine and DVB websites are being under attack and unable to view their websites. Indeed, regime’s silent war against the leading websites that are bringing in-depth information and events from their media outlets. Without promoting oppositions but fairly promote the democracy and freedom from these websites.
Reason is regime must attack in the eve of Anniversary of Saffron Revolution; one year after the biggest Burma historical religious leaders led political movement. Unconfirmed sources said information minister General Kyaw San and U Aung Thaung have worked with Russian’s IT company to attack these media outlets.
Unlike Burmese democracy activists, the regime generals have worked their own issue and campaign against the democratic movement and report to the command center which has received the developments of the projects.
Before referendum, all of the ministers and SPDC military council divided their manpower and oversaw the projects; a respective minister to improve the media, some had to attack the NLD and activists, one had to deal with international and another had to get 90 plus percent at the referendum. They didn’t care how but make sure that all must bring the numbers. Goal was getting approval without any confusion.
Thus, SPDC is never sitting as we wishes, they are working day and night to defend it’s prolong power from anyone else. The generals feel that these media are also enemy of the SPDC. Regardless of these media claimed they obligate free media ethic, free speech and independent news agency but regime still considers them as edge enemy of dictatorship.
Looking back to the 2004 historic meeting between KNU leader late General Saw Bo Mya and former Prime Minister and spy chief Khin Nyunt, while Khin Nyunt said “Pha Hti (uncle) Mya, don’t believe Irrawaddy, they wrote wrong information and attacking us.” His statement was caught in the video tape.
The dictators see the media as enemy, and websites are the enemy's frontline. Without media and blackout the media is key to control the people and country for their goal; ‘country under authoritarian regime’ “Burmese information and media situation is the worst in the world, worse than Vietnam and Laos” exile editor stressed.
