Intelligence: Than Shwe would accept the humanitarian assistance with conditional terms

Sources close to regime quoted that senior general Than Shwe remarked at the recent meeting in jungle capital few days back. He wanted to allow the Western's demands if US government and Western countries must withdraw the economic sanctions against Burma.

This precondition came after his hardliners suggested him to challenge the current economic sanctions included target sanctions after junta brutalized the monks and students from Saffron Revolution in September 2007.

One of the Burmese scholars who close to the regime hinted that SPDC would allow the international assistance through UN if Western countries should stop their political hostilities against the SPDC.

Than Shwe’s remarks came after China faced deathly earth quake in Sichuan province on 12th May and SPDC has had a slim chance of huge assistance from China afterward. China declared state of the emergency and searching and assisting the victims of deathly earth quake. All channels of Chinese Central TV (CCTV) showed Chinese president announced country propriety is to save victim lives and to search survivals in the same day.

But sources did not say that senior general wanted to allow any military personnel or international aid workers included. Sources continued all generals and regional commanders are united under control of Than Shwe which means that hardliners are still in control.

Indeed, he and hardliners wanted to get political profits without political improvement but taking granted from the death bodies and who are waiting for dying without proper help from SPDC.
